For 27 years Oregon Field Guide has explored the vast natural wonders throughout the Northwest, depicting stories that range from exploration and outdoor recreation to issues on ecological conservation throughout the area. Viewers ranging from decades-long fans to channel surfing stop-overs have been met with awe and intrigue from the show’s unwavering sense for raw discovery and educational insight. Approaching the launch of its 28th season, the show’s producers recognized a need to update their on-air brand package graphics in order to deliver relevant and up-to-date content to their audience. Equipped with a cache of brand new footage and stories, the team at OPB asked Incubate for help in designing and developing a new visual style that would compliment Oregon Field Guide’s sense of raw exploration and journalism. What resulted was a brand new opening sequence and brand kit treated with an informative style without being obtrusive or disrespectful to the beautiful photography of the show. The brand package consists of a series of animated graphic templates, icons and typography treatments that allow the producers to develop each Oregon Field Guide episode in a flexible yet consistent manner.
