Location matters when choosing a new place to live. South Cooper Mountain in Beaverton, Oregon has always been a destination for families seeking a new home. From the pioneers who followed the Oregon Trail to the modern adventurers who love the outdoors, this area offers a unique blend of city and nature. Holland Residential’s newest multi-family apartment complex is located at this very edge of urban and rural. With 216 units and easy access to the Tualatin Valley, this real estate property is ideal for those who want to explore and enjoy the Willamette Valley.
Holland Residential hired Incubate to name and brand this new apartment community. Inspired by the history, beauty of the land, and proximity to nature, Incubate named the new apartment property “The Miles”. As a name, “The Miles” honors Jane and Miles Davies, who built their farm here in 1853. Additionally, the name reflects their journey and the journeys of those who live here.
The logo design is inspired by both the surrounding landscape and the log cabin quilt patterns and barn quilt signs that are part of the local culture. The brand’s colors represent the land, sky, and water of the Tualatin Valley. Additionally, the logo shape suggests direction, discovery, and a sense of place. The Miles’ placemaking branding culminated in the creation of an 18-page brand guidelines book that includes the brand statement, The Miles logo, logo usage recommendations, brand colors, textures, typography, and collateral ideas.
