Project Overview

Makey Makey believes that everyone is creative and inventive, and with the right perspective and tools, anyone can reimagine and transform the world, building a better future. This is why Makey Makey focused their business on creating easy-to-use STEM invention kits for learners of all ages.

The Makey Makey marketing team asked Incubate to refresh and refine their existing brand and branded materials into a new, cohesive style guide that would evolve the brand while preserving their playfulness and inventive spirit. 

Incubate collected, reviewed, reorganized, and repositioned their existing design and marketing assets with the goal of updating and evolving the overall brand approach. Much of our solution involved restructuring and repositioning the reasoning behind and how assets should be used and created going forward. We collaborated with Makey Makey to refine the company’s guiding principles, target markets, logo usage, illustration style, photography direction, and writing tone—all with an eye towards professionalism without losing the playful, DIY spirit ingrained in the Makey Makey brand.

This work evolved into a new 34 page, visually vibrant brand style guide. Additionally, we developed an organized, streamlined digital asset repository to keep everything—logos, fonts, colors, icons, packaging, and more—right at their fingertips, ready for sharing with vendors, retailers, and collaborators to ensure brand consistency.

Now, the Makey Makey team, along with anyone else stepping into their world of inventive conductivity, has a go-to resource that makes it easy to produce creative, inventive, and on-brand materials for every project and client touchpoint.
